Introduction:
Who is this Directory for?
- Muslim victims/survivors of domestic violence.
- Service providers and advocates who assist Muslim victims/survivors of domestic violence.
- Faith and community leaders serving Muslims who are experiencing abuse.
- Organizations serving Muslim women, immigrant and refugee women with specific language or cultural needs.

Muslims in the US are ethnically and racially diverse, and include people who self-identify as Muslim, whether they are practicing or not. Over 40% of Muslims are born in the US, while almost 60% come from other parts of the world. Muslims from other countries are mainly South Asian (40%), Middle Eastern/North African (14%), and from other Asian/Pacific countries. Muslims also come from African, European, and Latin American countries. American-born Muslims are diverse as well. They include African-American Muslims, descendants of immigrants, and converts from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds. Muslim victims/survivors may prefer to seek services from organizations that are faith-based or ethnic-based in order to receive services that feel relevant and resonate with their values. The organizations listed in this directory specify the languages in which services are offered, as well as their areas of expertise regarding the cultural needs of victims/survivors.
