Domestic Violence homicides in Muslim families are preventable. Help us to save lives across the country as we work to Reclaim Our Roots and refocus our actions within our communities to reflect our faith.
Help us to intervene before the loss of another spouse, child or family is taken that could have been supported by their Ummah and PFP.
Help us to Remember, Reflect, and Act.

The Peaceful Families Project is a 501(c)(3) national organization with international reach devoted to preventing domestic violence, with a particular focus on Muslim families of diverse cultural, ethnic and racial backgrounds. In an effort to affect change in all areas impacting victims and survivors of domestic violence, programming includes prevention and intervention in its approach to community education and development, training and technical assistance, and research. PFP encourages a holistic approach to addressing domestic violence through collaboration with faith and community leaders, community members, social service professionals, activists, educators, mental health providers, medical professionals, attorneys, and youth leaders.
Throughout Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October 2022), Peaceful Families Project will be hosting events, both virtually and in-person, across the country. These events will be bringing awareness to the issue of domestic violence in Muslim communities. Our goal is to increase awareness from within American Muslim communities in order to prevent future domestic violence homicides. You can join us in these efforts by attending an event near you, purchasing an In Their Names hijab or Muslims Against Domestic Violence pin, or donating directly to PFP with the intention of funding a future without violence. Funds raised in these efforts will go towards curriculum development, clinical expertise and events to increase awareness and train future generations of Muslims on prevention, red flags and interventions for domestic violence from an Islamic perspective.

Reflect on the impact and loss in families and communities.

At Peaceful Families Project, we are encouraging our community to follow in the footsteps of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and his teachings. We want to challenge the way that our community sees violence within the home as a personal matter and reclaim our roots in how Muslim households should be. Islam gives us a foundation for what romantic relationships should look like. Islam provides us with a framework for managing conflict, anger, and oppression. Allow us to encourage you to do exactly as we are prescribed to do from our religion- let us work as a community to change this issue with our hands, let us change this issue with our words (tongue), and allow us to, at a minimum, challenge and change this issue within our own hearts.
In 2021, Peaceful Families unveiled its strategic plan for creating systemic change in Muslim families both in the US and globally which is represented by the PFP Roadmap which includes five new initiatives supported by the ongoing historic work of PFP. In 2022, we have been working on the research, design and implementation of these trainings to benefit our communities.
