participating in our workshops, many communities across the United States have created
their own projects focused on domestic violence awareness and the provision of direct services. Several have chosen to adopt the name of "Peaceful Families" after our organization, the original Peaceful Families Project.
A
meeting of D.C. area Imams to create a Proclamation
supporting a unified stance against domestic violence,
to be hung in the mosque of each participating Imam.
A
Family Support and Resource Center created in Tampa
with the support of a local mosque.
Legal
research on domestic violence, Islamic law, and the
Muslim community initiated by a Judge from the First
Judicial District of Pennsylvania Court of Common
Pleas.
The
National Consultation on Muslim Marriage Laws, Divorce,
and Child Custody Issues held in Washington, D.C.
An
initiative by our Miami co-sponor, SAHARA, to create
a pro-bono legal help group of Asian-American lawyers
to provide assistance in legal matters relating to
domestic violence.
