As
we are invited to provide workshops in each city,
we coordinate and interface with many existing
community organizations, non-Muslim organizations,
Councils of Imams or Shura Councils, and the few
shelters that exist to serve Muslim women's needs
throughout the country, such as NISWA in CA, Hamdard
Institute in IL, and Baitul Salam in GA, as well
as with the several organizations that do partial
work on this issue, or whose focus is directly
geared to domestic violence. Muslim community
workshops have been completed in Atlanta, Chicago, Denver,
Detroit, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, New
York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, Tampa,
and Washington, DC.
Some
of these organizations are Muslim such as the
Muslim Family and Human Services Center in Dallas,
TX; the Muslim Women’s Association in Denver,
CO; The Committee on Domestic Harmony in Long
Island, NY; Muslim Women Against Violence in OH;
Coordinating Council of Muslim Organizations (CCMO),
All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS), and Foundation
for Appropriate and Immediate Temporary Help (FAITH)
in Virginia; Karamah: Muslim Women Lawyers for
Human Rights in DC; RAHIMA and Stepping Together,
both in San Francisco, CA; Sista2Sista in
Philadelphia, PA; and the Mosque Foundation in Chicago, IL.
We
also collaborate with ethnic and secular organizations, such as Legal
Momentum, the Asian Pacific Islander Domestic Violence
Resource Project, the Maryland Coalition Against Domestic
Violence, and the DC Coalition Against Domestic
Violence in Washington, DC; Apna Ghar and the Chicago Metropolitan Battered Women's Network in Chicago,
IL; Manavi in New Brunswick, NJ; Sakhi, and the Arab
Family Center in New York City, NY; Chaya in Seattle,
WA; SAHARA and the Women's Fund of Miami-Dade County in Miami, FL, Asha in Bethesda, MD;
and the Asian & Pacific Islander Institute
on Domestic Violence in San Francisco, CA.
